This horn ring is an excellent concourse correct premium quality reproduction of the original that was featured on the 1965 -1966 "T-5" Mustangs that were exported to Germany. Die-cast construction that features premium show quality brushed chrome plating with painted "Ford" lettering and an acrylic center emblem.
Special Note: First to reproduce the 1964 ½ - 1966 Mustang horn rings in the mid 80’s CPC’s research and development uncovered a flaw in many, but not all of the original Mustang horn rings.
We found that some of the horn rings had one, if not all, of the spokes that curved outward and away from the steering wheel excessively. That is to say that the space between the horn ring spoke and the recess on the steering wheel was excessive. These horn rings didn’t look good and if the spoke was depressed until it bottomed out on the steering wheel, it would crack the horn ring index.
A good die maker would look at this condition and could determine that this was caused by the part sticking in one side of the die causing the part to bend and distort as the die was opening and the part was ejected.
So when CPC reverse engineered this part and the die to make it, we made the spokes straight to fit the factory steering wheel, and CPC’S horn rings are a perfect fit.
Other manufacturers, when reverse engineering the part, seem to have copied a bent and distorted original and fit an original wheel poorly.
