This 1964-1973 Mustang Automatic Overdrive Shifter linkage kit is used when installing a 1984-1993 A.O.D (Automatic Overdrive) transmission into an early model 1964-1973 Ford Mustang. Our kit allows you to retain the factory floor shifter lever and is a great way to keep the classic look to your Mustang project while benefiting from a newer modern AOD overdrive transmission, designed to allow the use of all Ford factory 1964-1973 Mustang shifter lever mechanism while adapting to a later model AOD transmission. The "shaft lever arm" assembly supplied in our kit must be replaced in order to ensure correct spacing and ratio with the early model stock shifter, comes with detailed installation form.

I installed an AOD into out 1973 Mach 1, which worked out perfectly. I wanted to keep using the oem shifter, but had to modify the original shifter rod to get it to work. At that the altered shift road had some issues with respect to its "angle of attack" amd close clearances. I purchased the shift rod from California Pony Cars through Summit Racing after reading some comments in a few different forums. I can nott sing the praises loudly enough for how well this shift rod worked out. And for folks asking me for help with their APD conversions it is The Shift Rod I recommend as I know it works and works well. Kudos.
